He is the former president of the American&nbsp;Society of Bone and Mineral Research and was recently elected to the American Association of Physicians, the first Maine physician to be selected, for his pioneering research and clinical efforts.&nbsp; His basic laboratory and clinical research trials have been continuously funded by NIH for more than 30 years. He has published more than 600 peer review publications and has been a member of two NIH Institute Advisory Committees- NIAMS and NIA.
