Tribute to Jack Kerouac: 100 Years, Still Alive!<\/h1>\n

Are you curious about Jack\u00a0Kerouac\u2019s francophone legacy and the French fact in the United\u00a0States in the first half of the 20th\u00a0century? The Tribute to Jack Kerouac: 100 Years, Still Alive!<\/em>\u00a0panel, organized in collaboration with the Quebec Delegation in Boston as part of the Mois de la Francophonie 2022, will be held on March\u00a015,\u00a02022, at 6:00\u00a0p.m.\u00a0(EDT).<\/p>\n

Jack\u00a0Kerouac is a significant figure among the American writers of the 20th\u00a0century. Through his many writings, he contributed to the survival of francophone communities in the United\u00a0States.\u00a0On the road<\/em>, published in 1957, is the author\u2019s best-known work. It is one of the bedrock novels of the American Beat Generation literary and cultural movement.<\/p>\n

During this unique event, three panellists will present different aspects of the legacy and work of the French-Canadian author. Herm\u00e9n\u00e9gilde\u00a0Chiasson, director of\u00a0Le grand Jack<\/em>, will discuss Jack\u00a0Kerouac\u2019s childhood and life. Jean-Christophe\u00a0Cloutier, associate professor of literature at the University of Pennsylvania and editor of\u00a0La vie est d\u2019hommage<\/em>, a collection of Kerouac\u2019s unpublished French writings, will share the peculiarities of the author\u2019s vision and writings in his mother tongue. Susan\u00a0Pinette, director of the University of Maine\u2019s Office of Franco-American Affairs, will explain the connection between Jack\u00a0Kerouac\u2019s writings and the Franco-American identity, as well as how his work was received by American critics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
