The fourth participant will be Rasheed Ali Cromwell, president of the Harbor Institute, an education consulting firm based in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>The online discussion is the first in a series that Allan is doing with the National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Education&rsquo;s Office of Safe and Healthy Students. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will introduce Thursday&rsquo;s talk.<\/p>\n<p>Participants in the webinar will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Define hazing,<\/li>\n<li>Identify three key components of hazing,<\/li>\n<li>Consider how hazing falls within a spectrum of interpersonal violence,<\/li>\n<li>Describe salient research findings about the nature and extent of hazing and the underlying motivations for hazing,<\/li>\n<li>Articulate challenges and opportunities related to hazing prevention,<\/li>\n<li>Depict examples of current hazing prevention initiatives, and<\/li>\n<li>Describe how educators and community members can play a role in hazing prevention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Allan leads research efforts of the Hazing Prevention Consortium &mdash; eight universities that have partnered on comprehensive hazing prevention programs.
