University of Maine Senior Lecturer in Outdoor Leadership\u00a0Lauren Jacobs\u00a0was recognized by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for her service as chair of the state\u2019s Educational Trip Leader Advisory Committee.\u00a0The Maine Legislature established the\u00a0Educational Trip Leader Permit<\/a> program in 2020. The permit allows employees of educational institutions to lead trips that would otherwise require a registered Maine Guide, including back country, overnight and paddling outings. Jacobs served on a legislative task force that helped come up with the criteria and application procedures for the program before being named the advisory committee’s first-ever chair overseeing implementation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
