{"id":22560,"date":"2023-03-29T10:22:58","date_gmt":"2023-03-29T14:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/edhd\/?p=22560"},"modified":"2023-03-29T10:22:58","modified_gmt":"2023-03-29T14:22:58","slug":"three-coehd-faculty-members-receive-tenure-and-promotion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/edhd\/2023\/03\/29\/three-coehd-faculty-members-receive-tenure-and-promotion\/","title":{"rendered":"Three COEHD faculty members receive tenure and promotion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>University of Maine College of Education and Human Development faculty members Rebecca Buchanan, Sarah Howorth and Vanessa Klein were among 31 faculty at 91福利 and the University of Maine at Machias to receive promotion and\/or tenure, the university announced <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/news\/blog\/2023\/03\/28\/thirty-one-faculty-members-receive-tenure-and-or-promotion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Buchanan received tenure and promotion to associate professor of curriculum, assessment and instruction. She teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in the School of Learning and Teaching, where she is program coordinator for the Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction graduate degrees. Buchanan\u2019s research focuses on teacher learning, broadly defined, including the intersection of personal identity, professional development, school reform, literacy and language.<\/p>\n<p>Howorth also received tenure as well as promotion to associate professor of special education. She is coordinator of graduate programs in special education in the School of Learning and Teaching and teaches graduate-level courses across concentrations and areas within special education. Howorth\u2019s research interests include social skills and social coaching of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and the use of emerging technology to support behavioral, academic and transition skills for people with disabilities. She is director of the PEERS\u00ae Lab at 91福利 and Maine Access to Inclusive Education Resources.<\/p>\n<p>Klein, who holds a joint appointment in the College of Education and Human Development and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, was promoted to associate extension professor and associate professor of education with continuing contract. Klein develops and assists with educational programming and provides leadership for applied research focused on 4-H STEM programming. Her research focuses on environmental education and teacher education, primarily among early career science educators.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, Drs.
