Caron has taught more than 25,000 students since joining the faculty in 1988, and currently teaches about 1,000 per year. She uses a variety of media, technologies, lesson and project formats, and guest lecturers to make classes engaging and relevant, according to the release. And she makes sure to incorporate the experiences of minorities, non-Western cultures and women of all social and ethnic origins when developing courses. A core value of her teaching \u201cis the belief that every human being must be genuinely respected and valued for what he or she is \u2014 a worthy person, who is in the process of becoming,\u201d Caron said. Caron also has chaired more than 50 graduate committees, served on more than 100 thesis and dissertation committees, produced nearly 50 scholarly publications, and written several books and guides. She will receive a $4,200 prize, blazer and pewter medallion when she is honored at the Alumni Achievement Awards dinner and celebration slated for April
