His Introduction to Child Development course enrolled more than 10,000 students over his teaching career. He also taught courses on parenting and strategies for self-change of individuals\u2019 behavior. He received the College of Education and Human Development&#8217;s outstanding teaching award on two occasions.<\/p>\n<p>Gary\u2019s research and public service focused on agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC), a rare brain anomaly. He and Dr. Kathryn Schilmoeller co-founded the ACC Network, which provided support for families in all 50 of the United States as well as more than 40 other countries.
