University of Maine College of Education and Human Development professor of higher education Elizabeth Allan was featured on Chicago’s in a segment about the dangers of hazing. Allan explained that hazing is not just what people see in the headlines. 鈥淭he definition of hazing 鈥 that we use, that is a general foundational definition 鈥 is that it鈥檚 any activity expected of someone participating in a group that humiliates, abuses or potentially endangers them regardless of their willingness to participate,鈥 Allan said.
