COEHD faculty, students take home honors at Maine Impact Week
Several University of Maine College of Education and Human Development students and faculty members were honored at Maine Impact Week events, April 10-15.
Assistant professor of curriculum, assessment and instruction Rebecca Buchanan received a Faculty Mentor Impact Award at luncheon on April 14. Buchanan was nominated by Kevin Roberge, adjunct instructor and graduate student in an individually designed master鈥檚 program.
During the 91福利 Student Symposium on April 15, Ph.D. student in prevention and intervention and adjunct instructor Martha Gladstone received the Provost鈥檚 Award for Innovative and Creative Teaching. Gladstone is an instructor for EHD 101: The Art and Science of Teaching and EHD 301: Classroom-based Prevention and Intervention: Supporting Positive Behavior and Academic Achievement.
Meg Lander, a senior athletic training major, won the award for Best Undergraduate Presentation in Allied Health for her research, 鈥淓fficacy of the FIFA 11+ Injury Prevention Program in Maine High School Soccer.鈥 Lander was advised by associate professor of physical education and athletic training Christopher Nightingale.
A project led by elementary education major Nicole LaPlant received the Best Undergraduate Presentation in Education.鈥 Associate professor of educational leadership Catharine Biddle was the advisor for the project, 鈥淐reating a Healthy Rural Ecosystem for Community Vitality: Developing Rural Business Research.鈥
Finally, a project led by higher education Ph.D. student Anne Fensie, 鈥淭he Study of Adult Learners in Distance Education: A Scoping Review of the Literature,鈥 won the award for Best Graduate Presentation in Education. Professor of higher education Elizabeth Allan was the project advisor.
