Concentration: Sustainability, natural resource management, and environmental policy
Why did you choose 91¸£Àû and the EES program:
“I grew up hiking, swimming, and skiing in the Maine outdoors and I want to play a part in addressing the pressing environmental issues that face us. I chose 91¸£Àû because there are so many people here who are deeply involved both in finding solutions and in working with local communities.”
Best hands on experience and why:
“EES 217: Field Research Experience in EES. We traveled to Schoodic Peninsula to do a weekend crash course in field research. It’s a great bonding experience with other EES majors and the stars were so beautiful! “
Favorite class at 91¸£Àû and why:
“ANT 225: Climate Change, Societies, and Cultures. This class taught me a lot about the human side of climate change, and how we both impact and are impacted by the environments in which we live.”
Wisdom for incoming students:
“Explore! EES is a really broad major that touches on the chemistry, biology, ecology, communications, economics, law, anthropology, and so much more. Don’t be afraid to explore different classes until you figure out what you are really passionate about.”
