91르적 me
I was born in Ohio and still identify as a Midwesterner. I was raised in a household with one cat but currently identify, strongly, as a dog person. (Though cats are adorable! And inscrutable!) I’ve learned about (and use) a range of therapeutic approaches, but everything starts with listening–making room for people to tell the story they need to tell.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Well, my kids are always mortified when I attempt to speak in an English or Australian accent, which I always do after we watch an English or Australian movie.
What is your favorite food?
Good sushi wins every time. But also: Middle Eastern street food. And anything that starts with olive oil and garlic.
If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I want to go to any place I’m reading about (or watching a movie about, or listening to a podcast about)–India, Portugal, North Dakota, wherever.
Professional credentials and interests?
I’ve got a BA in American culture from Northwestern University and an MFA in creative writing from Syracuse University. I’m currently an MSW student at the University of Maine. I’ve worked with nonprofits in education, youth homelessness, and restorative justice; I’ve also been a classical music DJ, an editor at Highlights for Children, and a reporter at a small-town newspaper. Also: I’m the parent of two humans (17 and 21).
