Not sure what these are? Here is a quick summary:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Start Date: First moment a student can start the quiz.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Due Date: When students should have the test done by.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">End Date: Last moment a student can click the submit button.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Please make sure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> you have both a Due date and an End Date, even if they are the same time. The due date is what Brightspace uses to fill out all the calendar and scheduling tools the students use to keep track of events in Brightspace. The quiz won\u2019t close down once the due date passes though. The end date will close the quiz to new submissions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check Your Questions<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Look over your questions and check the following:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12847 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/citl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/266\/2020\/09\/detective-1424831_1280-644x650.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"157\" height=\"158\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Are all your questions there?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Do you want them shuffled?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Do you want them all on one page or on multiple?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Are the point values right?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If the answer to any of these questions is not what you want it to be, then use the Building Quizzes tutorial above to make your adjustments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check Time Limit<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10521 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/citl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/266\/2020\/05\/HourGlass-Icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"116\" height=\"132\" srcset=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/citl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/266\/2020\/05\/HourGlass-Icon.png 117w, https:\/\/umaine.edu\/citl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/266\/2020\/05\/HourGlass-Icon-105x119.png 105w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 116px) 100vw, 116px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By default, Brightspace has your exam set to a \u201crecommended time limit\u201d of 120 minutes. This \u201cRecommended Time Limit\u201d does not mean it will kick students out after the 120 minutes. <strong>If you wish for your Exam to be timed, make sure you select the \u201cEnforced Time Limit\u201d option <\/strong>and choose what happens when that time limit is up. You can change this by editing your quiz and going to the Restrictions tab of the edit window.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Put in Content<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students find your materials the easiest when they are in the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Content <\/span>area. The same thing is true with Exams. Make sure you have your Exam linked in your content area. It can be either in its own module or in the week\/section you\u00a0wish the students to take the exam. The \u201cHidden\u201d feature of Brightspace overrides any Start, Due, and End date you have. So even if you have set your test to start Monday, it won\u2019t be visible to students if you have it Hidden. Here is a document that goes over how to make make your quiz visible: <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1gWAnZiINvcSKpnfVY82YCMRoputc4YNk8q0ZZC7zqi8\/edit#heading=h.izraml5w7stt\">Click Here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Special Access for Students with Accommodations<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you have students who need accommodations you\u2019ll need to give them special access to the quiz. Luckily, Brightspace offers a convenient place where you can give students a different time limit, different due dates, or even add extra attempts. Here is a link to a document that explains how to use this feature: <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1aGc00Yar1FWn_wXfk6W7KrR8grZVfNVhg17hyK73xQ4\/edit?usp=sharing\">Click Here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check Grading Settings<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-12879 alignright\" style=\"color: #333333;font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif;font-size: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/citl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/266\/2020\/09\/pen-162124_640.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"138\" height=\"149\" \/><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Do you want this exam in your gradebook? Do you want it automatically graded? If so, you should check the Assessments tab of your Quiz Editing window. If you want it in the gradebook, then make sure you have your Exam linked to a Grade Item and that you have the button \u201cAllow automatic Export to Grades\u201d selected. Do you want them to see what questions they got right or wrong? By default, students cannot see the quiz questions after the quiz. If you want to change that you need to edit the quizzes Submission View.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Run a Practice Test<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brightspace is new for everyone! Because of this, it might be a good idea to have a low stakes practice test before a Big Exam. This is especially a good idea if you are using the Respondus Lockdown browser as this feature adds a whole extra layer of possible technical difficulties to your exam. If you run a 2-3 question practice exam, you\u2019ll be able to work out the majority of those technical issues before the big exam.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you about to run your first Exam?
