°Õ³ó±ðÌý is well underway.

As of this week, faculty can now start to engage with and work in sandboxes generated in the Brightspace environment.

To learn more about what this means, and to find Important announcements, updates and FAQs visit the Brightspace LMS Updates and Information page on our website.

We will also be offering a range of orientation, information, and training sessions along with one-on-one consultations for all faculty (full-time, part-time, graduate students).

Virtual sessions will be available throughout to reach our Machias faculty, and any other faculty needing help from a distance.

CITL will be visiting the Machias campus on Friday, March 6th where we will be available to answer any questions.

Keep an eye out for additional support materials and opportunities to learn.

Give your old equipment new life and donate it for student use!  We are looking for unwanted and old equipment to be reused at the Hackerspace in the Memorial Union.

Examples of what we collect:

  • Computer towers and parts (please remove all old data)
  • Peripherals
  • Audio gear (tape decks, mixers, splitters)
  • Cameras (DSLR or cinema)
  • Printers and scanners
  • Old media players (VCRs or DVD players)
  • Any type of cords

Examples of items we can’t accept:

  • Any items containing freon (refrigerators, a/c units, heat pumps, etc)
  • Any fluorescent lights or televisions which contain neon/xenon gases
  • Items that use hot-plates
  • Items with edges intended for cutting or that are hazardously sharp

The Hackerspace is located in room 144 of the Memorial Union.  Hours are as follows:

Monday – Thursday | 10am – 5pm

Friday & Saturday | 10am – 4pm

Join faculty from across the UMS system to learn about different teaching strategies using various technologies.  This day long event will feature Julie Dirksen as the keynote speaker, a poster session, and numerous workshops throughout the day to provide connection and opportunities to collaborate.  Mileage is reimbursed for faculty.

In addition this year all three vendors for the future LMS will be presenting their platforms and engaging with faculty in Q&A.
