{"id":1023,"date":"2018-10-31T11:51:23","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T15:51:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/cfru\/?p=1023"},"modified":"2018-10-31T11:51:23","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T15:51:23","slug":"summer-employment-with-cfru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/cfru\/2018\/10\/31\/summer-employment-with-cfru\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Employment with CFRU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We at the CFRU are looking for motivated Forest Research Technician Crew Members and Crew Leaders to assist in forest research projects throughout Maine in the summer of 2019. Field crew members will work with researchers on various projects critical to the productivity and management of the forests across Maine.<\/p>\n<p>Forest Research Technicians are needed to perform a variety of field measurements throughout northern and western Maine. In addition to these duties, Crew Leaders will be responsible for crew productivity, safety, and data quality.<\/p>\n<p>Work begins in late May or early June and continues through late August-early September, depending on your school schedule. Work weeks will be four 10-hour days, often in adverse conditions. Work at remote field sites may require tent camping.\u00a0 Wages will start at $11\/hr, and transportation is provided.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must have a strong work ethic, be in good physical condition, possess a valid driver\u2019s license, have good communication and organizational skills, work well with others, be able to live in close quarters with others, and most importantly, be enthusiastic about their work!<\/p>\n<p>Previous experience in fieldwork, data collection procedures, computer skills, woods navigation and plant species identification is desirable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To Apply:\u00a0<\/strong>Email a resume, letter of interest, and contact information for three references in a single document to Jenna Zukswert at:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:jenna.zukswert@maine.edu\">jenna.zukswert@maine.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The selection process will begin <strong>January 7<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong> and the application <strong>deadline is<\/strong> <strong>February 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, 2019.<\/strong>\u00a0 Applications will be reviewed as they are received and offers will be made to excellent candidates prior to the deadline.
