The Forestry for Maine Birds (FFMB) approach integrates bird conservation into forest management and planning. During this 3.5-hour field tour, you will learn:
• Why Maine forests are globally significant for breeding forest birds
• How to conduct a handy habitat assessment
• How to enhance habitat for priority forest birds and a variety of other wildlife species
• How different silvicultural practices may affect and/or benefit forest birds
• How to integrate habitat enhancements with other landowner goals
• How to survey breeding birds using acoustic methods
