\"\"<\/a>The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a four-year grant of $1,678,000 to the Canadian-American Center, University of Maine, to support a National Resource Center (NRC) on Canada and provide Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for graduate students studying Canada.\u00a0 The Canadian-American Center will use these funds to further the study of Canada and Canada-US relations by supporting outreach to K-12 teachers and American faculty, faculty teaching and research, expansion of library holdings, public lectures and academic programing, and administration of the Center.\u00a0 The graduate Fellowships are supporting six Masters and Doctoral students in Academic Year 2010-11.\u00a0 The NRC and FLAS programs are the US government\u2019s principal means of supporting international education.\u00a0 The Canadian-American Center has been a federally-designated National Resource Center on Canada since 1979, and is the lead partner in a consortium with the Center for the Study of Canada, SUNY Plattsburgh.\u00a0 91¸£Àû is the only state institution in New England to have a National Resource Center; the other NRCs in the region are at Harvard, Yale, and Boston University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
