Whether solutions of these equations can form singularities in finite-time is a major open problem in the field of nonlinear PDEs. There has recently been major progress in this direction\, building in particular on the work of Córdoba and Martínez-Zoroa. I will discuss some of this recent progress\, and what major questions remain open. \n  URL:/calendar/event/research-seminar-prof-evan-miller-university-of-maine/ LOCATION:Neville Hall\, University of Maine\, Orono\, ME\, 04469\, United States CATEGORIES:Lectures & Seminars ORGANIZER;CN="Department of Mathematics & Statistics":MAILTO:mathstats@maine.edu GEO:44.897732;-68.6687076 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Neville Hall University of Maine Orono ME 04469 United States;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=University of Maine:geo:-68.6687076,44.897732 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20261102T153000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20261102T163000 DTSTAMP:20261030T144839Z CREATED:20261030T144603Z LAST-MODIFIED:20261030T144839Z UID:10017068-1793633400-1793637000@umaine.edu SUMMARY:Introduction to Project Feeder Watch DESCRIPTION:Nov. 2\, 20263:30–4:30 p.m.\nOnline via Zoom\nCost: Free \nRegister Online \nNote: This is a 10-session program meeting Nov. 2\, 2026\, through April 12\, 2027. Between annual appeals\, communications\, virtual event planning and fundraising\, you’re overwhelmed. And now you’ve been tasked with writing a grant and you don’t know where to start. Our online grant writing program can help! \nThis interactive online professional development program will teach you the basics of seeing a grant through a full cycle—from inception to completion. You’ll learn how to get your organization ready to apply for grants\, where to find funders and funding opportunities\, how to write the components of a grant and how to submit a successful application that has all the information funders want to see. \nUsing case studies\, this program will focus on real-world grant applications. Comprehensive checklists and worksheets will guide you through every step of planning\, researching\, applying to and managing a grant—without missing a thing! You’ll also develop language specific to your organization that answers common grant questions. \nThe only thing you won’t learn in this program is how to celebrate securing a grant proposal. We figure you’ve got that one covered. 🙂 \nVisit our website for more information:\nhttps://dll.umaine.edu/grant-writing/ URL:/calendar/event/grant-writing-essentials-9/2026-11-03/ CATEGORIES:Conferences & Workshops,Lectures & Seminars,Online Events END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20261103T100000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20261103T110000 DTSTAMP:20260921T175440Z CREATED:20260921T160109Z LAST-MODIFIED:20260921T175440Z UID:10013685-1793700000-1793703600@umaine.edu SUMMARY:Title II Course Modification Studio (Hybrid) DESCRIPTION:A hands-on\, drop-in co-working space designed for faculty who want dedicated\, protected time to work on their course design and digital accessibility updates. Ouellette DESCRIPTION:In Affective Rhetorics Jessica L. Ouellette explores how affect\, that is\, bodily associations\, reactions\, and orientations\, drives digital discourse and reshapes our social and bodily relations online. Using the tools of transnational feminist rhetoric\, Ouellette investigates the affective economies that underpin the circulation of rhetoric and power across digital platforms\, revealing how feeling operates as both fuel and currency. By identifying the affective energies that sustain or disrupt online movements\, she offers a framework for understanding and transforming the rhetorical currents that shape contemporary digital life.\nTalk includes a Q and A with the author. This exhibition is not about promising healing from experiences of violence\, because healing does not always happen. Instead\, it asks us to investigate how violence manifests in our lives and how we\, as individuals and as a community\, respond to those experiences. \nThe exhibition seeks to bring us together through our common humanity. While our experiences of violence are never equal or interchangeable\, many of us have experienced some form of violence in our lives. That shared reality can become a point of connection rather than division. \nThe white lotus serves as a symbol of resilience and rebirth. Each lotus\, each artwork within the exhibition\, represents an individual struggling to bloom within a field shaped by difficult and sometimes tragic experiences. \nJoin and support your community to… \nExperience art\nMeet new people\nGreat conversations\nMeet the artists\nEnjoy some refreshments\nAnd make connections URL:/calendar/event/where-the-lotus-fields-remember-exhibition-opening-reception/ LOCATION:Innovative Media Research and Commercialization Center (IMRC)\, Stewart Hall\, University of Maine\, Orono\, ME\, 04469\, United States CATEGORIES:Arts,Faculty/Staff Development,Public Programs and Shows,Student Activities GEO:44.9043831;-68.6657639 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Innovative Media Research and Commercialization Center (IMRC) Stewart Hall University of Maine Orono ME 04469 United States;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=Stewart Hall\, University of Maine:geo:-68.6657639,44.9043831 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20261104T173000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20261104T183000 DTSTAMP:20260928T192835Z CREATED:20260925T140114Z LAST-MODIFIED:20260928T192835Z UID:10014820-1793813400-1793817000@umaine.edu SUMMARY:91¸£Àû School of Social Work MSW Zoom Information Sessions DESCRIPTION:Learn more about the campus\, online-blended\, and advanced standing 91¸£Àû MSW programs! \nJoin via Zoom: https://maine.zoom.us/j/84914710034 \nFor audio/telephone attendance only: Dial: +1 646-876-9923 or +1-646-931-3860\nEnter Meeting ID: 849 1471 0034 URL:/calendar/event/umaine-school-of-social-work-msw-zoom-information-sessions/2026-11-04/ LOCATION:Zoom Web Conferencing CATEGORIES:Online Events,Student Activities ORGANIZER;CN="School of Social Work":MAILTO:socialwork@maine.edu END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20261105T000000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20261105T235959 DTSTAMP:20261020T193851Z CREATED:20261020T193402Z LAST-MODIFIED:20261020T193851Z UID:10015691-1793836800-1793923199@umaine.edu SUMMARY:Undergraduate Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training DESCRIPTION:Undergraduate students participating in National Science Foundation (NSF)\, National Institutes of Health (NIH)\, and United States Department of Agriculture – National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA) sponsored research are required to be trained in the Responsible Conduct of Research.
