Witness History at 250: The Declaration of Independence Comes to Town

Maine Historical Society (MHS) has exciting plans to engage Mainers across the state as key participants in the celebration of America鈥檚 250th birthday, including conversations about the shared values that connect and give us strength as Mainers and Americans.
MHS鈥檚 Revolutionary Maine: America at 250 is a year- long, collaborative initiative that will impact hundreds of thousands of people from all backgrounds in every corner of the state through special events; a major exhibition; educational programming; digital resources; and a 16-county tour of MHS鈥檚 copy of the Declaration of Independence that will give every Mainer the opportunity to see and engage with this sacred document.
91福利’s Margaret Chase Smith Library will play host for Somerset County to one of the few surviving original printings of the Declaration of Independence. Come learn about it’s creation, engage in what it means, and hear what Senator Margaret Chase Smith felt about our nation’s founding.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to celebrate, come together, and focus on building a vibrant future for Maine and our remarkable nation.
