Title: Finite-time singularity formation for the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations
Abstract: The Euler and Navier-Stokes equations describe the motion of an incompressible fluid. Whether solutions of these equations can form singularities in finite-time is a major open problem in the field of nonlinear PDEs. There has recently been major progress in this direction, building in particular on the work of聽C贸rdoba and聽Mart铆nez-Zoroa. I will discuss some of this recent progress, and what major questions remain open.
