But because no trip abroad is complete without local flair, Damon is enrolled in elementary Spanish, windsurfing on the Mediterranean and partaking in Spanish cuisine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Damon is choosing to stay with a host family for a full immersion experience. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m doing a home stay,\u201d she explains. \u201cI\u2019ll eat traditional foods and learn their everyday schedule.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Though the purpose of her trip is to spend time in Spain, Damon says she\u2019s most excited about the accessibility she\u2019ll be afforded to travel throughout Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m hoping to go to multiple countries,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m really excited to meet new people and learn a new culture.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><i>Chartier studies Down Under<\/i><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Junior Gabby Chartier will be studying abroad spring 2019 at Griffith University on Australia\u2019s Gold Coast, where she will take classes in organizational behavior, personal selling and sales management, and entrepreneurship and new business ventures. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI knew if I took business classes while I was there, it would keep me lined up to graduate on time,\u201d she says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to Chartier, her real break will come in the form of co-curricular activities \u2014 or, more appropriately, the absence of them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHere (in Orono), my schedule is crazy because I&#8217;m so busy with my classes, my internship, club meetings and my sorority,\u201d she says. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This semester abroad, while full of business coursework, represents a chance for Gabby to take a break from her hectic schedule and explore. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m flying there Jan. 30 and classes don&#8217;t start until Feb. 25, so I&#8217;ll have almost a whole month to explore,\u201d explains Chartier. \u201cI\u2019m most excited to go bungee jumping and (get) out of the cold weather.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><i>Be sure to follow Bri\u2019s and Gabby\u2019s adventures this spring on the MBS study abroad blog \u201cBusiness Black Bears Abroad\u201d at <\/i><a href=\"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/business\/abroad\"><i>umaine.edu\/business\/abroad<\/i><\/a><i>.<\/i><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Damon Heads to Spain University of Maine junior Brianna Damon is spending spring semester 2019 studying at Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia (Polytechnic University of Valencia) in Valencia, Spain.
